Eat and drink like locals do
For the true understanding of Montenegro, we offer you the possibility to try authentic food traditions created with fresh, organic ingredients. While locals are very proud of their various culinary skills (every region has its own specialties of foods) the most interesting thing is that the food goes truly farm to table (the gardens, fields, ponds, or even sea are meters away from your table).
Pasture-raised cows, goats, sheep give unique taste products like milk, cheese, kajmak, or the local smoked ham – climate conditioned from where it gets its specific aroma. And not to forget many organic fruits that each
household grows: yellow quinces, orange persimmons, various figs, crimson-yellow pomegranates, from which we make jam, juice, or rakija drink.

JokašRed Wine
Winery JOKAŠ is located in the village of Bandici, near Podgorica. Using the experience inherited from ancestors in combination with the latest technological developments, Winery Jokaš shows the world the authentic Montenegrin product of Katunska region. In order to produce distinctive, typical wines, grapes are processed from home owned vineyards. Wine production is done by selective harvesting, thereafter rapid processing of grapes begins with cooling skimmed generation, careful separation of stems, and gentle pressing of the grapes.
Lozova RakijaLiquer
A must-try on our menu is the famous Montenegrin lozova rakija – grape brandy, our national drink. The one that we offer is distilled in a local household close to Podgorica, in an area that was once a part of the ancient Roman town of Doclea. In the era of Roman rule in the region, Doclea used to be the urban center of the territory that we today know as Montenegro. Lozova rakija is hard liquor, made from an indigenous grape variety named Vranac, and it contains as much as 50% of alcohol. It is best enjoyed as an apéritif, and in Montenegro we usually serve it accompanied by figs, local cheese, and prosciutto. The Balkan peninsula is probably the only place in the world where you can try authentic rakija, but, once you try it here, we guarantee you will appreciate it.
Priganicefried dough
Priganice is a type of fried dough dish that has been consumed in Montenegro since ancient times. They are similar to donuts. In the rural areas of Montenegro priganice are the forerunners of today’s delicacies. They are made from wheat flour (from which the dough is made) and then fried in oil or fat. Priganice that are stored in oil are fasting and are usually consumed on the days of fasting, Christmas Day and Lent. The ones that are stored on fat are greasy. They are traditionally served sweet, spiced with sugar or honey, but can also be eaten with cheese or cream
